Womenite is a pioneering technology-enabled non-profit founded by Harshit Gupta, an engineer turned social entrepreneur. We are a youth-led initiative Read more committed to building a more equitable and sustainable world by tackling critical social issues at the intersection of gender equality, public health, and environmental sustainability. Rooted in the pillars of Education, Engagement, and Empowerment, Womenite envisions a society where every individual can live with dignity and equal opportunity.

Issue

Across India and beyond, deep-seated issues continue to hinder progress. Gender inequality leads to widespread challenges like gender-based violence and a lack of dignity, particularly for women. Menstrual hygiene remains a significant barrier to education and health for millions of girls, often compounded by taboos and lack of access. Furthermore, civic disengagement and inadequate waste management practices impact community health and environmental well-being. These issues require innovative, scalable solutions to create lasting change.

Action

Womenite tackles these complex issues through a multi-pronged, tech-driven approach: - Tech for Civic Education: We pioneer Virtual Reality (VR) experiences to promote civic engagement and empathy. These immersive tools sensitize communities on vital topics like waste segregation (under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan) and empower first-time voters by clarifying democratic processes and responsibilities. - Smart Health Solutions: We've installed smart sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators in low-income schools, coupled with digital inventory tracking, to revolutionize menstrual hygiene management. - Mass Sensitization & Empowerment: We conduct extensive workshops (500+ schools/colleges) on gender sensitization, gender-responsive WASH practices, and awareness on gender-based violence. - Youth Mobilization: We've built and scaled a pan-India volunteer network of over 1000 youth advocates, leveraging digital platforms to amplify grassroots impact and drive behavioral change.

Impact

Womenite's innovative actions have yielded profound and measurable impact: - Empowering Women & Girls: Over 60,000 women and girls have received access to essential menstrual hygiene products, with over 1.5 million sanitary napkins distributed, fostering dignity and enabling continued education. - Civic Engagement & Awareness: Our VR initiatives and workshops have positively impacted thousands of individuals, including communities and first-time voters, leading to deeper understanding and civic participation. - Community & Environmental Change: Our programs in waste management and gender-responsive WASH practices have led to tangible behavioral shifts in communities, contributing to environmental sustainability. - Youth Leadership: We've cultivated a vibrant network of 1000+ youth changemakers, creating a sustainable force for social transformation across India. Through these efforts, Womenite is not just addressing symptoms but driving systemic change, demonstrating how technology and human ingenuity can collaboratively build a more equitable, healthy, and sustainable future for all

Vision & Mission

Womenite's mission is to improve the lives of marginalized women, their families, and communities by addressing social conditions that hinder their health and well-being.

Programs

  • Menstrual Hygiene Day 2018

Menstrual Hygiene Day serves as a global platform for people from all sectors to take action, advocate, and exchange knowledge about menstrual hygiene and management. Following this initiative, Womenite organised an awareness programme on 'Menstrual Hygiene' under the banner of "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" at three different centres in Delhi. Over 200 women participated, learning about menstruation myths and facts, engaging in interactive discussions, and sharing their aspirations for their daughters' secure futures. The session concluded with the distribution of pads and refreshments, promoting education and awareness for positive change worldwide.

  • Udaan: Beti bachao Beti Padhao

    District
    State

The Udaan event, Beti Padhao Beti Bachao, held at Surajmal Stadium, Nangloi, in collaboration with Womenite and the District Magistrate of West Delhi, involved girls from various Government schools in Delhi. The function aimed to challenge the conservative mindset, eradicate gender inequality, and empower women with equal opportunities in society. Proud parents accompanied the girls, rejoicing in raising these remarkable gems.

  • Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign

Ten schools in South-West Delhi's regions, including Najafgarh, Sagarpur, Raj Nagar, and Palam, were part of a menstrual hygiene and management workshop project. This initiative was conducted under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign in collaboration with the Office of the District Magistrate, South-West Delhi.

  • My Clean City by HCL Foundation

Womenite, in collaboration with HCL Foundation's 'My Clean City' program, spearheaded a comprehensive waste management initiative across 20 societies in Noida and Greater Noida (10 in each region). Our efforts focused on sensitizing citizens and fostering sustainable waste practices.

The initiative began with a baseline survey to understand existing waste management behaviors. We then conducted interactive workshops covering crucial aspects like grey water waste, textile waste, and menstrual waste management. To enhance citizen engagement, we innovatively utilized Virtual Reality (VR) experiences, offering immersive learning about proper waste segregation and environmental responsibility. We also performed impactful Nukkad Nataks (street plays) to convey messages creatively and reach a broader audience.

Beyond daily activities, we celebrated key dates to reinforce community involvement. On International Volunteers Day, we recognized and rewarded our dedicated volunteers. On International Women's Day (March 8th), we organized a large event engaging around 1000 women from the communities, celebrating their contributions and honoring the inspiring 'waste warriors' and 'champions' who led by example in adopting sustainable practices. This holistic approach ensured both education and community empowerment in waste management.

  • Safe School program by DCPCR

    State

Womenite actively works to combat child sexual abuse by emphasizing that raising awareness and disseminating essential information are crucial for effective prevention. To achieve this, Womenite has conducted numerous sessions on child sexual abuse primarily targeting Government MCD schools and other organizations across Delhi NCR.

Specifically, Womenite has conducted vital 'safe/unsafe touch' workshops in 100 MCD schools in close association with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR). These crucial sessions target children aged 5 to 14 years, equipping them with the knowledge and understanding to identify and report various forms of child sexual abuse, thereby empowering them to protect themselves and fostering a safer environment for vulnerable children in the region.

  • Naari Ki Chaupals

    District
    State

Womenite proudly champions the "Naari ki Chaupal" program, a pivotal initiative conducted in 17 villages across North Delhi. In a powerful collaboration with the Office of the District Magistrate, North Delhi, under the esteemed banner of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, this program directly empowers women at the grassroots.

Through "Naari ki Chaupal," Womenite provides crucial education and resources to key community figures, including Self-Help Group (SHG) members and Anganwadi workers. These dedicated women receive comprehensive training on vital subjects such as menstrual health and hygiene, the critical importance of girl child education, and other essential aspects of women's well-being. By equipping these influential women with knowledge, Womenite creates a ripple effect, ensuring that accurate information and positive practices cascade through entire communities, driving sustainable change and fostering a healthier, more equitable future for girls and women in these villages.
