Noida Deaf Society is a registered not for profit, working for the mainstreaming of Deaf children and youth in the disability space through education, Read more skill development of Deaf Children and youth from 2005. Giving the background, The Deaf community in India is one of the most marginalized communities , being an invisible disability , unable to hear and speak ,they have been sidelined due to a lack of language and communication and have had no access to either education , skill development opportunities and livelihoods. The focus has been on speech and making them 'normal' leaving the child who cannot hear and speak completely cut off from all forms of education, knowledge and human growth. Even within their homes the lack of awareness about Indian Sign Language has kept them isolated leaving them with poorly developed social and soft skills. Most of our students come from economically weaker sections of society where parents have no means or opportunity to send their wards for any kind of quality education or training classes.  15 years ago we broke some social stigmas and barriers and became a pioneering organization using Indian Sign Language as the medium of communication and training, developed capable Deaf trainers and are reaching out to over 1400 Deaf children and youth each year and have reached out to over 13,000 children and youth till date who come to our centers from across the country.  Today, NDS has five centers in four states of India - Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Besides this we are working across states within the 21 Government aided Deaf schools and bringing a change in the Deaf education system which has for long kept Deaf children with no access to real education. Training in a nurturing and visual ecosystem has led to over 3500 youth being employed in the formal industry in different sectors while in the education space we also have a Primary school from Nursery to class VII.
