HomeCare
Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, the L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) introduced the HomeCare service to ensure uninterrupted care for patients unable to visit LVPEI centers, particularly the elderly. Presently, this service is accessible to patients within a specified distance (10-25 kilometers) from LVPEI’s Kallam Anji Reddy campus in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, and Mithu Tulsi Chanrai campus in Patia, Bhubaneswar. HomeCare services are available from Monday to Saturday, operating between 9:30 am and 4:00 pm.
The vision technician or optometrist will conduct a thorough eye examination at the patient's residence, assessing visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and capturing anterior and posterior segment photographs. The collected data will be uploaded onto the HomeCare app and reviewed by an ophthalmologist at LVPEI's specialized teleophthalmology center. Subsequently, a video consultation will be arranged between the doctor and the patient.

Eye surgeries
Eye surgeries at LVPEI are mainly day care procedures, often not requiring an overnight hospital stay, although some cases might necessitate a short hospital stay. In such instances, LVPEI ensures comfortable, secure, and hygienic accommodation for both patients and attendants. The nursing assistants are available 24/7 and adept at handling emergencies.
Approximately half of the services are offered free of charge to economically disadvantaged individuals. It provides three paying service categories: General, Supporters, and Sight Savers. By opting to become a Supporter or Sight Saver, one can actively contribute to those who are unable to pay.
LVPEI proudly extends its services to our nation's defence personnel. Over the last twenty years, all members of the military, from Jawans to Senior Officers, and their dependents have received comprehensive care, including surgical procedures, free of cost when referred by Military Hospitals to LVPEI in Hyderabad. -
Vision enhancement and rehabilitation
Vision Rehabilitation forms an integral component of the L V Prasad Eye Institute's care delivery model, embedded at all levels within its network. The comprehensive services span from evaluating and prescribing low vision aids, such as magnifiers aiding reading for those with low vision, to offering social, educational, and occupational rehabilitation. The aim is to train individuals with low vision and blindness to achieve the highest possible functional capability. Extending beyond the centre, community-based rehabilitation services are provided to those unable to access these facilities, ensuring comprehensive care across communities.
