Birds of Bandipur
In 2009, a detailed assessment was conducted to estimate the population density of birds in Bandipur Tiger Reserve based on their food guilds. This study focused on analyzing habitat distribution using the reserve's vegetation and examining the relationship between different groups of birds and their food preferences. By categorizing birds into distinct food guilds, the study aimed to gain insights into their ecological roles and habitat preferences within the reserve.

Saving Big Cats
Monitoring straying animals via camera traps in areas prone to livestock lifting by carnivores helps determine their activity. Following NTCA – SOP, collaboration with the forest department is essential. WCF has successfully captured 26 Tigers and 16 Leopards. Investigating Tiger deaths in Bandipur and Nagarahole Tiger Reserves is crucial to understanding natural and unnatural causes. WCF intervenes in cases of human-wildlife conflict, offering mitigative measures. Additionally, they address instances of cattle carcass poisoning, often resulting from revenge killings by affected villagers.
Milestones & Track Record
WCF has graduated from working with birds and reptiles to mammals, profoundly applying conservation strategies to save them using indigenous approaches.
