Goatery Cluster Project

ANDS focuses on sustainable livelihood for impoverished communities, especially farmers living below the poverty line in a region housing various ethnic groups. Recognizing the area's potential for livestock farming due to its greenery and naturally available fodder, ANDS initiated the Goatery project in collaboration with the Center for Micro-finance and Livelihood (CML) in November 2010. The project aims to increase the subsidiary income of poor rural households through goat farming, enhance goat ownership, improve nutritional status, and develop goat management and marketing skills. Beneficiaries, mostly from the BPL category, are selected based on attendance and provided with training by veterinarians. Each beneficiary receives two female goats and ten male goats for breeding. Moreover, the project offers training in goat management, high-quality breeding bucks, medical facilities, and regular support and visits by veterinary experts and project staff.
