Recognizing that behavioural change requires more than just awareness, CACR employs systematic efforts to achieve this goal. Its diverse programmes include Personal Hygiene Management, Menstrual Health Management, Gender Equality & Sensitivity, Computer Literacy, and providing Safe & Nutritious Food in schools. The organisation has also undertaken initiatives such as activating School Management Committees and Child cabinets, offering Digital Literacy classes, providing Teacher training, and monitoring Mid-day meals. CACR collaborates closely with the Education Department of the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) to enhance educational services for children in Municipal schools. CACR's mission revolves around implementing impactful projects in education, hygiene, sanitation, nutrition, gender equality, and mental health for both children and communities. The organisation aims to bridge the gap between policies and people, ensuring the rights of children are upheld. With a strong vision, CACR strives to transform the lives of disadvantaged children by enhancing policies and programs related to Education, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Nutrition, Gender equality, and Child Protection.

Impact

Citizens Association for Child Rights (CACR) has made a significant impact through its programs: over 68,000 children have benefited from personal hygiene initiatives, 45,000 women and adolescent girls have gained from menstrual hygiene programs, more than 8,00,000 individuals from lower-income backgrounds have been aided by the Flush the Virus program, around 58,000 children have been sensitized about plastic waste management through an awareness campaign, and 52,589 individuals have been beneficiaries of vaccination campaigns.

  • Personal Hygiene Management Programme

    District

    Citizens Association for Child Rights (CACR) focuses on Personal Hygiene Management as a key initiative. By educating children about various aspects of hygiene such as handwashing, oral care, toilet hygiene, water cleanliness, and respiratory hygiene, the programme strives to curb disease transmission and promote a safe living environment. Notably, this effort has impacted 68,000 children, effectively improving their hygiene practices.

  • Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Programme

    District

    CACR runs a Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) Programme in alignment with the Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by the Government of India. Collaborating with UNICEF, the organisation designed a comprehensive module covering essential aspects such as the biology of menstruation, proper menstrual hygiene practices, diverse absorbent options, dispelling myths with scientific evidence, nutritional needs during periods, managing menstrual irregularities, and the proper disposal of menstrual products. The programme has benefitted 45,000 women and girls, contributing significantly to their menstrual health and well-being.

  • Food & Nutrition at School Programme

    District

    CACR has undertaken an initiative in collaboration with UNICEF Maharashtra and Triratana Prerana Mandal to ensure Safe and Nutritious Food at Schools, focusing on community toilets and MCGM schools in slum areas. The project involved the strategic installation of 283 non-touch pedal-operated hand washing stations and 453 elbow-operated taps within MCGM schools, which also served as COVID Care Centres during the pandemic. Additionally, the initiative included the distribution of cleaning materials and hand-washing liquids to facilitate monthly maintenance and operation of the installed facilities, promoting hygiene and well-being among the targeted communities.
