The organisation follows a community-based approach for the management of acute malnutrition. It follows a three pillar strategy to achieve its aims which include field based actions such as detection, treatment and prevention of malnutrition at institutional and community levels. Further, the organisation works to strengthen local community to develop resilience towards acute malnutrition. Secondly, the organisation is involved with advocacy and influencing policy regarding malnutrition and eradication of hunger and finally it researches and develops ways to deal with the problem of hunger and malnutrition. The approach followed by the organisation is to identify the most affected children and treat them using therapeutic food and micronutrients. In addition to this, locally-trained community workers then follow up with home visits to ensure children do not return to an under-nourished state. Further, pregnant women and young mothers are educated on the importance of varied nutrition based on local product availability and affordable local items. Additionally, the organisation also conducts awareness-raising campaigns in communities to create an understanding of undernutrition and spread awareness regarding the importance of implementation of nutrition policies at local and national government levels.
