Originating in 1967 with merely five children, it has evolved into a thriving village, now home to over 100 children aged 6 to 18 years residing in nine family homes.
Key Attributes:
• Children, ranging from 6 to 18 years old, reside together in Bal Sadans, which function as familial homes within the village.
• Each family unit is overseen by a Sadan Mother, and older children assume roles akin to siblings.
• Household tasks and responsibilities are shared equitably among all children, instilling a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
• Alongside formal education, ample opportunities for skill development are provided.

Saksham represents an empowerment initiative crafted to identify and guide young individuals towards financial self-reliance. By employing comprehensive interventions that acknowledge their diverse backgrounds and experiences, the program strives to foster self-sufficiency in participants, positioning them as role models for future generations. The programme operates at the Pune ISC Centre, benefiting young women in Yerwada, Lohiya Nagar, and Vishrantwadi areas within Pune.
Activities:
1. Professional Training – Tailoring -
• Provision of 15 sewing machines to train young women in tailoring.
• Creation and marketing of masks, bags, gift items, apparel, and home decor.
2. Skill Development – Accounting and Photography -
• Career-focused courses in Accounting, MS-CIT, and Tally ERP aligned with the government’s Skill Development Drive.
• Collaboration with SNDT University for courses in Office Administration, Account Executive, and Tailoring.

• Aarambh stage (ages 14 to 18): Aims to prepare, inform, and equip children with essential knowledge to make well-informed choices.
• Pragati stage (ages 18 to 21): Aims to support and encourage educational and career decisions by providing consistent guidance and mentorship for stability and success.
• Aatmanirbhar stage (21 and beyond until employment): Ensures readiness and awareness among young adults to independently pursue their careers and lives.
