Paragon Charitable Trust is an independent, non-profit organization established in 1966 to promote education for underprivileged students. In 2003, it Read more initiated the 'Muktangan' experiment in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai to address the quality gap in mainstream education through an integrated, community-based model of school and teacher education.

Muktangan's Founder Trustee, Elizabeth Mehta, was awarded The Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2015. The organization was felicitated in 2019 for 'Quality Teacher Development' by The Reliance Foundation and the Center for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA). It was also awarded as India's most committed NGO working in Early Childhood Development in 2014.
