An investment exceeding 11 Crores INR has been dedicated to this initiative. In 2019, 100 villages in Maharashtra were adopted for de-silting projects, complementing the 588 villages that have already benefited from similar endeavours since 2013, bolstering their self-sufficiency in water resources.

    In September 2014, torrential rains triggered devastating floods in Kashmir, affecting regions like Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Punjab. By the end of that month, India had tragically lost nearly 277 lives to the disaster. In August 2008, Bihar faced a massive deluge when the Kosi River breached its embankment in Nepal, and declared a national calamity. This catastrophe left 3.3 million people across 1,850 villages homeless and caused extensive crop damage. In 2005, record-breaking 24-hour rainfall led to severe flooding in Maharashtra, resulting in over 5,000 casualties. Additionally, in 1961, the Panshet dam collapse in Pune caused floods, claiming around 1,000 lives. The Sakal Relief Fund swiftly provided aid to those affected by this tragedy.

  • Malin Landslide Relief Programme

    A massive landslide on July 30 obliterated Malin village, situated 110 km from Pune city within the Western Ghats. The catastrophe, triggered by a mound of mud and debris from a nearby hillock, engulfed nearly the entire tribal community comprising about 50 families. The village's remote location delayed awareness of the tragedy until a state transport bus driver arrived past 7:30 a.m., discovering the devastation. Ultimately, the death toll reached 153, with roughly 100 people still missing. A total donation of 1,39,62,000/- facilitated the construction of a hostel for tribal students in Ambegaon Taluka, with total expenses amounting to 1,40,00,000/-. This initiative has benefited 10,000 tribal students.

    Official estimates indicate that the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, triggered by an earthquake near Indonesia's Sumatra island, resulted in the loss of 10,136 lives in India. Hundreds of thousands were left homeless when the tsunami struck the southern coast on December 26, 2004. A total donation of 3,00,00,000/- facilitated the construction of a Primary Health Center, Community Center, and three schools, benefiting around 10,000 people and approximately 4,500 students, respectively. The total expenses incurred were 75,00,000/- for the former and 2,75,00,000/- for the latter.

  • Gujarat Earthquake Relief Programme

    On India's 52nd Republic Day, January 26, 2001, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7 on the Richter scale struck Gujarat at approximately 8.45 in the morning. Tragically, the earthquake claimed over 13,800 lives and caused extensive damage to properties within the state. To aid in the recovery efforts, a total donation of 3,12,00,000/- was contributed. This support led to the establishment of a blood collection ambulance, incurring expenses of approximately 12,00,000/-. Additionally, it funded the construction of one hostel and 70 schools, benefiting around 85,000 students. The total expenditure for these initiatives amounted to 3 crore.

    The conflict transpired from May to July in 1999 within Jammu and Kashmir's Kargil district. On July 26, 1999, the Army declared the mission victorious, and since then, it has been commemorated annually as Kargil Vijay Diwas. Officially, the Indian side recorded 527 casualties, while the Pakistani side reported between 357 and 453 deaths, with numerous soldiers sustaining injuries. A total donation of 3,71,18,000/- was made to support various initiatives, including providing equipment for handicapped soldiers (costing approximately 1,10,13,000/-) benefitting 5,000 soldiers, and constructing four hostels (Kolhapur, Chiplun, Amravati, and Pune) for soldiers' daughters, with expenses of about 2,60,00,000/-, benefiting approximately 6,000 girls.
