Programs

  • Direct Implementation of Watersheds

    States

    Maharashtra

SIED is actively overseeing the implementation of 115 watershed and village development projects across Maharashtra. These initiatives are primarily funded by NABARD through the Integrated Watershed Management Program (IGWDP) and National Watershed Development Program (NHWDP). Additionally, they receive support from the Maharashtra Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MREGS) and the Watershed Organization Trust (WOTR). The projects aim to enhance sustainable water management, improve agricultural productivity, and boost rural livelihoods. By focusing on watershed management, soil conservation, and community empowerment, these efforts contribute to the long-term ecological and economic well-being of the region.

  • Trainings, Exposure Visits, Workshops, and Gatherings for Villagers

SIED organizes a variety of community-focused programs designed to enhance knowledge and foster collaboration in rural development. These include exposure visits, training sessions, and experience-sharing gatherings aimed at empowering village communities, Village Watershed Committees (VWCs), women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Samyukt Mahila Samitis, and Watershed Volunteers (Panlot Sevaks). Through these initiatives, participants gain valuable insights into watershed management and sustainable rural development practices. The program facilitates learning, networking, and capacity-building, ultimately contributing to the betterment of rural communities and their active involvement in environmental and socio-economic development projects.

  • Women’s Development Activities

SIED is committed to women's development and empowerment through the formation of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) that promote savings and credit. These groups play a pivotal role in fostering developmental and income-generating activities. SIED's initiatives aim to improve the quality of life by introducing social and drudgery-reducing solutions, such as smokeless chulhas, safe drinking water systems, kitchen gardens, LPG connections, and toilet construction. By providing women with the resources and support they need, SIED empowers them to lead healthier, more sustainable lives while contributing to their communities' growth and well-being.
