Over the course of the past 58 years, Snehasadan has extended its sheltering arms to more than 30,000 vulnerable children. These homes offer these children an opportunity to break free from the harsh realities of street life, granting them access to essential elements such as shelter, education, and a future, while also providing something invaluable: a loving home and a sense of family that they had previously been deprived of. The core mission of Snehasadan is to be a refuge for homeless children, transcending barriers of caste and creed, and offering a sanctuary for the countless homeless orphans, strays, destitute individuals, and troubled youth who wander through virtually every corner of Mumbai. Snehasadan's overarching objective is to reach out to these homeless children, understand the underlying reasons that led them to the streets, endeavor to trace their families, and reunite them with their loved ones whenever possible. In cases where family tracing proves unfeasible, or when the children are orphaned, Snehasadan embraces them as its own, providing an environment that nurtures their holistic growth and development. Snehasadan operates with a dedicated team of trained social workers who collaborate with the community to identify homeless children, actively engage in efforts for family repatriation, offer counselling services, and, if the child so chooses, provide a foster home within the warm embrace of Snehasadan itself. Snehasadan operates a network of 12 residences located in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai city. Additionally, it maintains two contact centres: one at CSTM railway station, known as "Amchi Kholi," and another near Borivali railway station, named "Nivara." These centres are dedicated to direct engagement with vulnerable children residing in these areas. Our centre staff actively participate in community outreach initiatives, facilitating study sessions for children within the local community. They also play a vital role in identifying children who require care and protection and subsequently refer them to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) for appropriate assistance.
