Suhrud Mandal focuses on educating children with hearing impairments, helping them integrate into society by creating educational programmes, guiding Read moreparents, conducting research, and providing comprehensive support. The organisation aims to raise awareness about hearing impairment through articles, workshops, and lectures, and to establish global networks with educational institutions. Its mission is to increase public awareness, collaborate with special schools, offer vocational training, and maintain information on hearing impairment. Suhrud Mandal's schools have soundproof rooms, advanced hearing assessment tools, and FM systems. Students benefit from free tuition, transport, hearing aids, books, stationery, uniforms, and snacks. Starting with just five children, it now supports 450 children from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds in Pune, Maharashtra. As a registered NGO under the Maharashtra State Social Welfare Department, Suhrud Mandal is committed to integrating hearing-impaired children into mainstream society.

Projects, Seminars & Training Programme
In September 2011, Suhrud Mandal hosted a state-level seminar for special teachers from across Maharashtra, co-sponsored by the Rehabilitation Council of India and Bruhan Maharashtra College of Commerce. Approximately 370 teachers participated, with presentations from both prominent speakers and experienced educators. By December 2011, Suhrud Mandal introduced e-learning in all four schools, supported by Rotary Clubs and equipped with computers, projectors, and educational software. This initiative enhanced students' understanding and engagement in subjects like science and history. In 2013, the Ruby Jubilee celebration included a seminar at Pandurang Shamrao Mulgaonkar B.Ed College, attended by 250 teachers, including 70 alumni.

Schools
Suhrud Mandal operates four schools for children with hearing impairments in Pune and its surrounding areas, including one residential school. Established on August 1, 1973, Badhir Mook Shikshan Kendra, the first school, supports 75 students and offers a range of cultural and sports activities. The school hosts an annual lip-reading and general knowledge competition in collaboration with the Lions Club, Pune City, and engages in the “Clean India Drive.” Additionally, a sub-centre at the National Defense Academy caters to 20 mentally challenged children.
