Programs

  • Education Programme

The education program offered by Urja is tailored to the individual needs, interests, and strengths of the women it supports. This personalized approach, provided in-house, serves as a motivation for it to engage in the formal education system. The programme encompasses literacy, higher education, life skills, leadership skills, vocational training, and physical education, all of which are integral components of its non-formal education setup.

  • Livelihood Programme

Urja's livelihood programme prioritizes women's empowerment through training in essential skills, establishing connections to suitable job prospects, and fostering self-reliance. An entrepreneurship programme is tailored to their interests, equipping women with the necessary skills to become independent entrepreneurs and thrive in their own ventures.

  • Leadership Programme

The beneficiaries of Urja require leadership programmes to support them in making informed decisions and developing into confident individuals. Regular sessions are organised with respected social leaders who dedicate their time to understanding these women and providing guidance for a brighter future. These programs aim to empower the women, assisting them in shaping their lives positively and fostering self-assurance.

  • Advocacy & Awareness Generation Programme

The partnership with Urja plays a crucial role in the development of women. Awareness campaigns are conducted to shed light on the challenges faced by homeless women in India, involving collective discussions and consultations with local stakeholders, including communities and railway police. Efforts are made to advocate for policy reforms and facilitate the acquisition of legal documents, ensuring civil rights for these women. Research projects aim to create replicable models of Urja's initiatives for potential presentation to the Government and other NGOs.
