The organisation conducts diagnostic eye camps twice a week to provide eye care services to poor tribal communities near their doorsteps. The preparation starts a month in advance, with a pilot visit to the village for confirming the date and campsite and raising local support. On the camp day, a team comprising an ophthalmologist, paramedical workers, optician, and health educator arrives at 9 am. Refraction and low-cost glasses are provided at the campsite, and patients requiring surgery are screened for various conditions. Those needing surgery are brought to the base hospital on the same day and operated safely the next day. These camps cover approximately 25 lakh people in the Surat district and adjacent rural-tribal areas, with local or external support helping with the funds needed for the camps and surgical work.
