It played a crucial role in establishing Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs) nationwide. Following the Gujarat earthquake, a Crises Management cum Rehabilitation Model for Economic Regeneration was implemented. The institute created models for Entrepreneur Trainer-Motivators, livelihood generation for the differently-abled, and sector-specific entrepreneurship development in areas like Food Processing, Tourism, and Textiles. EDII, recognized as the Nodal Institute for Start-ups by the Government of Gujarat, also hosts the Centre for Advancing and Launching Enterprises (CrAdLE), promoting technology-innovation-based new enterprises.
