Its goals extend to forging alliances with policymakers, cultivating networks, and contributing to entrepreneurship capacity building and institutional development on both national and international scales. Established on twenty-three acres of land granted by the Government of Gujarat, the institute has broadened its reach by establishing entrepreneurship development centres and institutes at the state level, and by integrating entrepreneurship education into various academic institutions. Recognized globally for its achievements, EDII has garnered support and recognition from esteemed organisations such as the World Bank, Commonwealth Secretariat, UNIDO, ILO, FNSt, British Council, Ford Foundation, and the European Union. With over four decades of experience, EDII continues to progress, accumulating invaluable insights and expertise in entrepreneurship education and training.

EDII's vision is to retain global leadership in fostering entrepreneurship. Its mission is to promote entrepreneurship through education, research and institution-building, augment the pool of entrepreneurs, and facilitate entrepreneurship policy and networks.

EDII has been designated as an Institute of National Importance, established entrepreneurship development centers in multiple countries, and launched India's first journal on entrepreneurship.
