Impact
Chhaya has made a profound impact on animal welfare in Kolkata, having treated over 50,000 street dogs and 55,000 livestock, including cows, goats, and horses. The shelter’s efforts in sterilizing 20,000+ street dogs through its Animal Birth Control (ABC) program have significantly contributed to controlling the stray dog population in a humane manner. Chhaya’s commitment to providing 100% vegan and non-milking services ensures the ethical treatment of animals across all operations. Importantly, all services are offered completely free of cost, making vital medical care and rehabilitation accessible to animals in need, regardless of their owners' ability to pay. Through its rescue, rehabilitation, and sterilization efforts, Chhaya has not only saved thousands of lives but also raised awareness about animal welfare in the community, combating cruelty and promoting humane treatment across Kolkata.
Vision and Mission
