Samast Mahajan is a distinguished nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the well‑being of humanity, animals, and the environment through cultu Read morerally rooted compassion, sustainability, and service. For over a century, Samast Mahajan has delivered transformative impact across India—from rescuing and treating over 74,000 animals via mobile ambulances to reviving water bodies and greening rural landscapes. Its multifaceted interventions span animal welfare, environmental restoration, rural empowerment, education, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement. In animal welfare, Samast Mahajan operates rescue ambulances staffed with veterinarians and drivers, free treatment clinics for injured animals, and collaborates with panjrapoles and gaushalas to protect cattle in Gujarat. Environmental efforts include large-scale tree plantations, rejuvenation of lakes and rivers, rainwater harvesting, and clean‑water initiatives that align with national sustainability goals. Rural development projects deliver education, healthcare, nutrition, and livelihood programs to underserved communities, advancing self-sufficiency and social justice across tribal, minority, and backward regions. With strategic partnerships spanning government bodies, NGOs, donors, and corporations, Samast Mahajan consistently innovates—using data-driven "Yellow Card" methodologies to scale measurable, sustainable interventions that endure beyond their implementation.

Programs

  • Jivadaya

Samast Mahajan’s Jivadaya programme is a comprehensive initiative dedicated to animal welfare and community empowerment. Operating across India, it has provided shelter to over 1.5 million cattle and supported 6,800 gaushalas and panjrapoles, bolstered by financial investments exceeding ₹80 crores. Through training more than 10,000 gaushala members, it ensures sustainable best practices in animal care. Additionally, the programme includes daily feeding of over 700 street dogs in Palitana. By combining humane treatment, community education, and financial support, Jivadaya fosters a culture of compassion and sustains both animals and rural livelihoods.

  • Animal Hospital on Wheels

Samast Mahajan launched the Animal Hospital on Wheels in February 2022, deploying 11 fully equipped ambulances across Mumbai to deliver mobile veterinary care. Each vehicle doubles as a mini-hospital—featuring operation theatres, anesthesia, oxygen supplies, drug refrigeration, and safety systems—to treat over 100 injured or ailing animals daily, including pets, strays, birds, and livestock. Staffed by qualified veterinarians and livestock inspectors, the program has already provided critical aid to tens of thousands of creatures in distress. This initiative exemplifies Samast Mahajan’s mission to ensure no animal suffers untreated.

  • Rural Development

Samast Mahajan’s Rural Development (Gram Vikas) programme empowers village communities through comprehensive, sustainable interventions. It focuses on rejuvenating water bodies—cleaning and deepening lakes, ponds, rivers—and restoring grasslands to enhance fodder availability and agricultural productivity. Complemented by tree plantation, nursery development, soil conservation, canal construction, and adoption of environmental technologies, the initiative strengthens ecological resilience and fosters long-term water security. In recent years, more than 159 villages in Rajasthan and over 40 water bodies have been revitalized, covering tens of thousands of acres and creating a self-reliant rural ecosystem .

  • Water Bodies Rejuvenation

Samast Mahajan’s Water Bodies Rejuvenation Programme focuses on restoring and conserving critical water sources across several regions, including Jalna, the Kundalika River, Wada, and Hanol. By desilting and deepening ponds and lakes—over 300 in Jalna alone—the initiative has significantly increased water storage, boosted groundwater recharge, and supported agriculture and livestock. In the Kundalika River area, silt and waste removal, embankment fortification, and community-led cleaning have renewed its ecological health. Through these sustainable, community-driven interventions, the programme ensures long-term water security, enhanced rural livelihoods, and ecological resilience.
