Programs

  • Home Nursing Program

    District

    • This is the first program initiated by ANEW. The target group is the under-privileged candidates from government schools who have completed middle school as also high school dropouts. • The course encompasses learning basic skills in caring for patients and providing geriatric and pediatric care. A full-time teacher, who is also a qualified nurse engaged by ANEW, conducts regular theory classes for three months and oversees practical classes at various institutions for an additional three months. Spoken English and Life Skills training are an integral part of the course as it helps in personality development and enhances the candidates’ employability and sustainability skills. • On completion of the theory classes and practical training, ANEW helps with their placements at nursing homes or as home nurses. Home Nursing is ANEW’s flagship course through which around 3670 candidates have been trained till date. Most of the candidates trained have sustained their careers and ANEW’s contribution is perceived to cause a ripple effect by positively impacting their lives as well as the lives of their extended families. • ANEW is well known in Chennai as an NGO that trains competent nurses. By constantly seeking feedback from their employers, offering refresher courses to our nurses trained earlier, including new modules like physiotherapy and having the course content vetted by hospitals, ANEW has been able to upgrade and sustain this course to meet stringent hospital requirements. • ANEW has partnered with the following institutions for training the Home Nursing students: Sundaram Medical Foundation (SMF) Appasamy Hospitals Sundarapandian Bone & Joint Hospital Apollo First Med Hospital Little Sisters of the Poor The Banyan • ANEW does not charge the candidates or the employers for the placement services rendered. • The placement percentage has been consistently above 75-80% with a list of potential employers waitlisted throughout the year.

  • Computer Program

    District

    • Introduced in the year 2000, ANEW’s slew of computer related courses have been successful in bringing about computer awareness among the underprivileged segment of the society. Computer awareness is the new “literacy quotient” that provides the beneficiaries professional employment skills. Starting with a basic IT course, students, have the option to enhance their job prospects by taking up more value-added courses at ANEW like e Publishing and Tally & Accounting & Python. Basic IT Skills Program The course and course content for ANEW’s Basic IT program is certified by NIIT Foundation. The NIIT foundation co-certified course runs for 3 months and is offered to candidates who have completed 12th Std., as well as final year students / graduates from any discipline. Advanced IT Program Besides the Basic IT skills course, ANEW runs a few advanced skills courses with a view to offer value-added training, improve the employment prospects of its trainees and also help them sustain their careers in the long run. - E-Publishing E-Publishing course was started in 2017 to train ANEW’s beneficiaries in e-Publishing. Such training offers them opportunities to enter into functional roles in publishing houses thereby enabling them to grow professionally and earn more than in support roles. - Tally & Accounting Tally course is offered to the candidates with commerce/math educational background along with basic Knowledge in Computers with interest and aptitude for accounting. NIIT Foundation & a Tally academy support this project by providing the syllabus & course material. - Python Python language programming is offered to computer science graduates. This is to develop knowledge and skill in the technology driven markets. This course will help students to get into programming jobs. Additionally, all the above courses have mandatory spoken English and career readiness classes to improve the employability skills of the beneficiaries.

  • Driving

    District

The driving course (both Autorickshaw & Car) at ANEW is our most non-traditional course! In the year 2006, ANEW decided to reach out to beneficiaries, who have the ability, aptitude and dream to take control of their lives, by introducing the ‘non-traditional’ course in driving. The course is open to students who have at least a middle school education and who are willing to take-up employment as drivers. ANEW is one of the pioneers in this path-breaking course! The students after training are employed with companies, hotels, cab services, as valet parking attendants, battery car operators at Airport & Metro, personal drivers, commercial drivers etc.
