India's Crafts Council of India (CCI) is an endeavour to preserve and promote the country's cultural legacy as it moves towards modernisation. Kamalad Read moreevi Chattopadhyay felt the need to mobilise public awareness and action because of the dedication of Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore to hand production as a catalyst for political and social emancipation, as well as her experience with national efforts at craft regeneration since Independence. To help meet the requirements of Indian artisans in a setting that is changing quickly and to help create a lasting awareness of their expertise and skills, she rallied a group of volunteers at CCI. The CCI was founded to safeguard this identity.

Craft Research
A thriving industry requires evolution and expansion. The enduring popularity of traditional Indian crafts can be attributed to their inherent ability to adapt. However, they run the risk of becoming irrelevant and stagnant.
In the fields of skill, technique, and technological advancement, such as the use of power tools for stone carvers, finishing methods for wood carvers, natural dyes on natural fibres, and product design for non-conventional fibre and shell jewellery, CCI has been working relentlessly.

Marketing Support
The primary goal of CCI is to give craftspeople marketing opportunities. CCI has been a go-to source for marketing knowledge because of its keen awareness of both the shifting demands of customers and their historical context. Design intervention, product development, diversification, training, and technological demonstrations are some of the ways that marketing help is given.
The two main features of CCI's marketing intervention are big-format craft bazaars and small-format-themed exhibitions.
The Kamala brand has become well known as an example of exceptional craftsmanship and a successful platform for selling artisanal goods as a result of these initiatives.
